10-Minute Play

The 10-minute play may be short, but since its debut in 1977 at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, it has become a powerful art form. Experimenting with the mini play is a great way to understand what makes good drama. Readings and in-class writing exercises will examine dialogue, character and transformation, scene, conflict, plot, and subtext. This five-session workshop is perfect for those wishing to complete a short play and is also valuable for fiction and memoir writers who wish to master the skill of writing strong dialogue. Participants may submit their short plays or scenes for class discussion.
